I was really impressed with ABK for multiple reasons. The first being that I knew what was going to happen each day and who would be in my home. I was given a detailed schedule of each days activities. Most times you are at the mercy of the company-they show when they feel like it and the customer is out of the loop.
Secondly, I was always kept informed. With most remodels, there comes a point where they run into a snag. Most companies do not inform you of the snag and your left wondering why no one has been at your house for a week. When the issue arose, I was informed the same day. I was told when and how this would be taken care of. They were on top of it. My biggest thing has always been-keep me informed and I am ok with it. This was a very minor issue but ABK was on top of things.
Thirdly, I appreciated the fact I had one person I was in contact with for all questions/comments/issues. I had a previous company remodel my bathroom a year ago and never knew who to contact. I was always pushed around, given different people to contact for different aspects of the job. This was not the case with ABK.
Overall, I would highly recommend them (and have). They do great work.

Having lived and rehabbed two houses in the past five years and worked with numerous contractors, I have one problem with ABK: that I didn’t work with them sooner!! From JD’s design to Guy’s execution, ABK was everything I hoped for in a contractor. They were affordable and efficient, but more importantly friendly, courteous and trustworthy. Guy’s project management was extremely organized and very thorough. He was easy to get in contact with and returned calls in a timely manner. All workers showed up on time and left our house clean when finished. We love our new bathroom and without question would recommend ABK for your home improvement projects.

When we decided to remodel our bathroom in our 1951 dated house I called AB&K. I had seen an ad in a Home Decor circular and decided to try it. We are very pleased with the outcome. Both JD and Guy were wonderful to deal with and answered all our questions. We had already had a BathFitter bathtub refacing done and that was my biggest fear. I didn’t want anything to happen to it that would negate our warranty on the tub. The work was done while we were on vacation but a lockbox was put on the door so the workers could get in. The workers we did see were professional and knowledgeable. The house was clean and kept in good order when we got home to a completed bathroom. The bathroom looks wonderful and very rich. But it was very affordable. Thanks again.

Hello, my name is Gloria Mentzer and I am the proud owner of a new bathroom by ABK.
After consulting with JD and, with his guidance, I picked out my cabinets, flooring, and bathtub with surround and granite countertop. There were plenty of selections from each price range so it was easy to coordinate colors and styles. JD also was helpful with combinations of color and style. Anyone who has done a room knows how tedious is can be when choosing color combinations and JD was really helpful.
After I had my choices, enter Guy. Guy came to the house and addressed several issues. After conferring with Guy the schedule was set up.
All their installers were courteous and friendly, and, they cleaned up each evening. Guy checked in many times to make sure all was going well and addressed questions I had. All issues were addressed and, if necessary, corrected. Yes, my house was interrupted but, as they say, a temporary inconvenience for a permanent improvement, made it worthwhile.
If you are interested in a new bath or kitchen, I certainly would recommend ABK. Both JD and Guy are great to work with and the quality workmanship they insist on makes it easy to recommend ABK.

“We checked out several contractors to have our counter-tops replaced. J. D. Burkholder turned out to be our best choice. The others added in extra for sub-contractor, one we had to arrange ourselves, for the plumbing work. J. D. Burkholder did the complete counter-top install, all included. The faucet that was to be installed was delivered to our house by mistake, needed to be delivered to the company that did the template and cutting of the granite, so they could cut for said faucet. J. D. Burkholder personally came here, out of his way, to get the faucet and get it delivered to the fabricator. As it goes with plumbing sometimes, there was a very small leak under the sink. This was also taken care of immediately with no questions ask. We are very satisfied with our new granite counter-tops and the quality installation by J. D. Burkholder.”
