JD Burkholder, has developed an innovative idea that makes home improvements accessible to a greater percentage of homeowners, even in this tenuous economy. Coupled with his genuine desire to give back to the community that nutured him, Burkholder was inspired to launch Affordable Bathrooms and Kitchens earlier this year. J.D. Burkholder is an accomplished kitchen and bathroom renovator who began his career in his teens as a carpentry apprentice to a well respected Lancaster area carpenter. Having honed his skills in carpentry and tile installation, J.D. expanded upon his expertise, learning the nuances of kitchen and bathroom remodeling from local artisans and business professionals. With consideration to both the artisan and business professional, J.D. became well known in the local area for his motivation to provide both professional accountability and artistic experience to anyone in need of kitchen and bathroom renovations. J.D. has headed dozens of successful high-end custom kitchen renovations as both the lead carpenter and project executive from 2000 to 2010.

With an eye to the current needs of his clients, J.D. has utilized the strategic relationships he developed with area material vendors and sub-contractors to establish Affordable Bathrooms and Kitchens… a business founded with the intent purpose of delivering custom installation and professional accountability to clients in need of kitchen and /or bathroom up-grades with limited financial means. While many custom renovators continue to service only the financially elite, J.D. has developed his business venture to provide professional, thoughtful and skilled services to both the average and well healed homeowner. J.D. holds certifications in lead paint remediation.

Guy Burkholder entered into partnership of AB&K with brother and AB&K founder J.D. Burkholder in the spring of 2010. This strategic partnership utilizes Guy’s experience as a professional construction manager and owner’s construction representative to enhance the emphasis that AB&K has placed on the professional delivery of construction and renovation services to its clients.

Prior to joining the AB&K team, Guy was responsible for managing $7M – $80M commercial construction projects while working with a large international construction organization. In his role as construction manager, Guy represented the interests of the project owners throughout all stages of construction. In this capacity, he utilized his construction experience and construction management education to ensure compliant application of the construction documents, control of the project activity durations and costs to ensure compliance with the baseline project price and schedule, and to ultimately ensure the client’s satisfaction with the construction process and the completed product.

As a commercial construction manager, Guy earned a unique reputation for providing ethical, transparent, consistent, timely and thorough construction services in a cordial, non-confrontational, yet direct manner. Guy attributes his positive and open professional personality to his experience in social work- a field in which he worked for seven years, assisting chronically homeless adults in improving their quality of life.

Guy’s motivation to join his brother at AB&K was the result of their common values, beliefs and desires, which he has summed-up in the following manner;

“My driving motivation is to bring the state of the art construction management processes I have studied at Drexel University and implemented while working in commercial construction to the field of residential renovation. I’m excited to join my brother at AB&K as we share the same appreciation of people and desire to express this appreciation by providing affordable construction services of various scale while providing a consistent level of honesty and professionalism.”
